Russell Tovey in the Bedroom

May 12th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | no comments

tovey-georgeFans of actor Russell Tovey, who plays George the Werewolf in Being Human, will be pleased to hear that he’s to star in a pilot for a new BBC3 show.

Young, Unemployed and Lazy is a comedy that will be set entirely in the bedroom of a young couple – played by Tovey and Sarah Solemani of Roman’s Empire. The show will be written by Stefan Golaszewski who wrote and appeared in Cowards.

According to producer Kenton Allen:

Stefan’s searingly funny script subverts the TV couple like you’ve never seen before. He not only captures the essence of young Britain today but portrays – in a very funny and extremely frank way – a modern sexual relationship. Russell and Sarah have a brilliant chemistry that feels very fresh and very truthful.

BBC3 doesn’t have a very good record with comedy (think Clone) and I’ve never seen Cowards, so I’m not sure what to expect from Young, Unemployed and Lazy. We’ll all find out when the pilot airs later this year.
