October 3rd, 2009 Posted in News | no comments

Whatever you thought of Red Dwarf: Back to Earth, the bright green Carbug was a great visual gag. Now you have a chance to own this mega Dwarf prop yourself.

The original Carbug will be sold by H & H Auctions on October 29th 2009 at Haynes International Motor Museum, Somerset. Viewing for the auction will be the previous afternoon, Wednesday 28th.

The Bug is actually a converted Smartcar – specifically a 1999 Smart Passion. Its real registration number is V818MGJ as opposed to the ST4R BIIG plates used for the show. The car is described as “running and driving but not road legal unless you wished to remove the ‘hover pads’ etc”.

CarBug One is expected to fetch in the region of £4500 to £5500. Entry to the auction will be by catalogue only, catalogues costing £20 on the door. Contact H&H for more details.
