Robert Carlyle to Travel by Stargate – Not Tardis?

December 15th, 2008 Posted in News | no comments

It’s been announced that Scottish actor Robert Carlyle is to star in the upcoming Stargate Universe (SGU) TV show.

Robert CarlyleUniverse is the third installment of the Stargate TV franchise (ignoring the cartoon series). It will be based around a group of humans marooned on a ship in distant space and is promised to be darker than the previous series. Stargate Atlantis split fans – some loved it, personally I found it tedious. The casting of Carlyle in the Universe lead role (Dr David Rush) together with the promise of a darker feel will hopefully mean a return to form.

Stargate Universe will start filming in the new year and the show is expected to debut on the Sci-Fi channel in the summer.

From a UK perspective the casting of Carlyle in the role has clear implications. He had been one of those actors tipped as a possible successor to David Tennant in Doctor Who. However now that he has this role that seems unlikely to happen.

Unlikely, but not impossible
