Merlin: Series 2
Good news for all Merlin fans: there will be a second series.
The BBC has announced that the Beeb have commissioned a second series of the show from Shine Productions. Series one averaged 6.2 million viewers (28% audience share) per episode for the first eight episodes.
The most important part of the announcement is that as well as the main characters most of the other regulars will also be back. These include Katie McGrath as Morgana, Richard Wilson as Gaius and, most importantly of all, Anthony Head as Uther. Head isn’t the star of the show but his ruthlessness provides it with an essential grounding in the dark reality of medieval England.
For me Merlin never became “must see TV”, however it’s generally been pretty watchable and I welcome its return.

I don’t think there’s any official date yet for series 2. Late September would seem about right, if it’s 13 episodes again that would lead into the Christmas period nicely.
The castle was wonderful, hard to believe it’s a real place (Pierrefonds in France)

You can order the novelisations of the series from your local Public Library and borrow them for free. I am a Children’s Librarian and know that we have already ordered some of the books adapted from the tv series.
