Good news for fans of Captain Jack: Torchwood will be back for a fourth series. Probably.
The BBC has not yet officially commissioned more Torchwood but Russell T. Davies seems pretty confident of making season four and beyond. RTD told TV Guide Magazine:
The recession has hit British television, but fingers crossed, it will be a go. We expect things to start to move in January. We’ve got great ideas for the show. I think there’s a further lease on life for many years to come, but certainly for a [fourth season]
We don’t know yet what format Torchwood 4 will take or who will be in it, however RTD has previously said:
I’ve got a shape in mind, and I’ve got stories. I know where you’d find Gwen and Rhys, and their baby, and Jack, and I know how you’d go forward with a new form of Torchwood.
If the BBC asked for another 13 one-part stories, that’s what we’d do. I’m ready for anything, but I think it works well as one continuous story.
But if the BBC decide they want 13 one-offs, I’ll suddenly decide that’s the best format in the world!

Throughout the history of Doctor Who there have been a number of scripts written that were intended for production but never actually got made. Audio production company Big Finish has already announced the release of a series of eight unmade Colin Baker stories starting with The Nightmare Fair. Now they’ve announced a second series of audio versions, this time featuring previously unmade stories from other Doctors.
Series two of Dr Who: The Lost Stories will consist of another eight stories stretching throughout the classic era from William Hartnell to Sylvester McCoy.
The Lost Stories 2 begins with a four disc boxed set of Hartnell stories performed as enhanced audiobooks. After that comes a Troughton boxset including a very interesting bonus:
Big Finish has been granted the rights by the estate of Terry Nation to produce an audio version of the unmade US TV Dalek pilot, The Destroyers. This adaptation will be a full cast drama, starring Nicholas Briggs as the voice of the Daleks.
Other lost stories in the series will be from what would have been Season 27 in 1990 and will star Sylvester McCoy.
