The BBC has published an interesting interview with Toby Whithouse, creator and chief writer of Being Human. In it he discusses his writing and gives the following interesting little nugget of information about season two:
The characters have evolved, so to an extent it’s like writing a new show. They’ve been hardened by their experiences in series 1, but at the same time their friendship has become firmer. In episode 1 of series 2, one of the characters is very different to how they were in series 1. And that was interesting to write. But before anyone panics, the character soon sees the error of his or her ways.
The second series is about six weeks away from the start of filming with locations currently being scouted and casting sessions about to begin.

To mark next week’s broadcast of Torchwood: Children of Earth, BBC listings magazine Radio Times (RT) has given the front page to Captain Jack (John Barrowman). Even though “other listings magazines are available”, the cover of the RT has always been a prestigious slot.
Beware though – you may not want to read the article inside until after you’ve watched the show. Co-writer James Moran warns:
Radio Times is Medium spoiler level, just skip the text and you’ll be fine.

In the run up to Torchwood: Children of Earth on TV next week, BBC Radio Four is broadcasting three one-off Torchwood audio dramas.
Wednesday July 1st: Asylum by Anita Sullivan
“When PC Andy arrests a teenager for shoplifting, he thinks it is going to be a routine case. Then he sees the weapon she is carrying and decides to call in the Torchwood team.”
Thursday July 2nd: Golden Age by James Goss
“The Torchwood team are led to Delhi on the trail of a dangerous energy field. As the field grows, they witness the simultaneous disappearance of hundreds of people.”
Friday July 3rd: The Dead Line by Phil Ford
“When a Cardiff hospital is inundated with patients who have fallen into coma-like trances, Torchwood move in to investigate. The trances appear to have been triggered by phone calls, all received on retro phones and made from a number that hadn’t been active for over 30 years.”
That last one sounds like it might have echoes of Sapphire and Steel – which would be no bad thing.
All three 45 minute Torchwood stories will be broadcast in the 2:15 Afternoon Play slot on Radio 4.

The time and space spanning Whoniverse has always been a perfect canvas for role playing games (RPGs) and (at least) two have been published: the FASA game in 1985 and Timelord from miniatures supplier Ian Marsh.
Both these games were, of course, firmly rooted in the classic Doctor Who era. Now there’s to be a new RPG for the new show: Doctor Who: Adventures in Time And Space. The new game will be published by Cubicle 7 who also publish SLA Industries, Victoriana and Starblazer Adventures.
At the moment all we know about Dr Who: ATS is that it’s due for release in October 2009. More information as I get it.
